1. Turmeric can stimulate weight loss
This spice can help you lose weight. According to a 2009 Tufts University study, curcumin (the predominant polyphenol in turmeric) prevents the growth of fatty tissue in mice, as well as in cell modeling, ultimately leading to weight loss.
Two groups of mice followed high-fat diets. One group also gained 500 mg of curcumin per kilogram of body weight, and maintained its weight, while the other group did not. According to Patricia Bannan, a nutritionist and health food expert from Los Angeles, “Simply ingesting more turmeric is not enough to lose weight. However, this spice can reduce the inflammation associated with obesity, and slightly stimulate fat loss.”
